About the Red Prayer Plant

The Red Prayer Plant is one of the most fascinating and beautiful houseplants you can own. Its deep green oval leaves are painted with bold red veins that run symmetrically across each leaf like a work of art. What makes it truly special is its movement. Every evening the leaves fold upward like hands pressed together in prayer, then open again each morning as the light returns. Native to the tropical forests of Central and South America, this evergreen perennial brings color, character and a little daily magic to any room it lives in.

Care Guide

Light: Low to medium indirect light. Avoid direct sun which will fade the vibrant leaf patterns over time

Water: Every 7 days. Keep the soil lightly and evenly moist. Use filtered or distilled water if possible as this plant can be sensitive to fluoride in tap water

Humidity: Medium to high (50 to 70%). Place on a pebble tray or near a humidifier for best results

Temperature: 65 to 80°F (18 to 27°C). Avoid cold drafts, air conditioning vents and sudden temperature drops

Pet Safe: Yes. Completely non-toxic to cats and dogs

Difficulty: Beginner. Easy to care for as long as it gets consistent moisture and is kept away from direct sun
