About the Calathea Rattlesnake

The Calathea Rattlesnake is one of the most visually striking houseplants you can own. Its long wavy leaves are covered in dark green spots on top and a rich purple on the underside, making every leaf look like a work of art. Like all Calathea plants, it moves its leaves throughout the day as the light changes, folding upward at night and opening again in the morning. Native to the tropical regions of South and Central America, Africa and the West Indies, this plant brings bold color and living movement to any room.

Care Guide

Light: Low to medium indirect light. Keep away from direct sun which can fade the leaf patterns

Water: Every 7 to 10 days. Keep the soil lightly moist but never soggy. Use filtered or distilled water if possible as this plant is sensitive to fluoride in tap water

Humidity: High (50 to 70%). Place near a humidifier or on a pebble tray for best results

Temperature: 65 to 80°F (18 to 27°C). Avoid cold drafts and sudden temperature changes

Pet Safe: Yes. Completely safe for cats and dogs

Difficulty: Intermediate. Loves humidity and filtered water but rewards the extra care with stunning foliage
